The artworks are governed by their own licenses, shown verbatim on every record; the standard terms are defined by Creative Commons (creativecommons.org/cc-licenses). Following them, including attribution where CC BY 4.0 requires it, is your responsibility. Works marked US-PD are public domain in the United States; the holding institution asserts no copyright there, and Pinax admits them only when they predate 1900. Reuse outside the United States is your responsibility to verify.
The archive is provided as it stands: metadata comes from the holding institutions' own records and we do not warrant its accuracy.
The artwork images are freely accessible under their open licenses. The infrastructure, curation, refusal logs, and backend software used to organize, filter, and connect those works are proprietary to Resistance Labs and are not licensed for systematic extraction. Write to us if you have questions.
